Filipino Voices was once a lively if unruly battleground of some of the best minds in the blogosphere and for a time a favorite stopover of many like-minded bloggers.  Although traffic had visibly ebbed down over time, it remained quite a vibrant meeting place.  So when it fell quiet all too suddenly, it is only fair to inquire whatever happened?!  After all, it was a favorite hangout too no matter that it was not always in amiable spirit.  It’s like, hey, where is everybody…?  because you find the house once full of people all abandoned and padlocked without a farewell,  y’know, something like “we’re done with our mission and we need to move on” sort of thing. This is how the house looks like for more than a month now.

What were they running away from?   Hacienda Luisita?

Most likely.

To recall,  FV was strongly supportive of President Noynoy Aquino in the last elections and this hounding issue was generally ignored if not denounced as black propaganda.  I could imagine Hacienda Luisita would be a raging topic of debate on its comments section now.  And I could imagine how badly beaten they at FV would be defending the controversy.

Such a waste though.  Any serious blogger knows how difficult it is to rake in so much traffic such as what FV had already gathered for itself.

nakakahinayang talaga ang FV. how strange that nick just let it die. i wonder nga how it was done. he just disabled the posting thingie so that writers couldn’t post anymore? and kung hacienda luisita nga ang dahilan, at hindi niya kayang tanggapin, sana he turned over the site to pinoys here in pinas… so ayun namamayagpag ang anti-pinoy, how sad ;(

Hacienda Luisita was just a hazard guess really because my last comment that got flagged down was about HL, then it just went off. At that point I think, FV was already losing the battle for traffic against Anti-pinoy.

Actually FilipinoVoices is revamping their site. Just read my Twitter. This is a good thing, there are a lot of good perspectives that came from FV. It has it’s place and value for the Filipino minded like me, and it’s communities so diverse in political, and social commentaries.

That’s good if it’s true, Mario. I liked FV more when all those diverse and competing ideas were clashing head-on with some of the brightest minds in blogosphere taking part. The sad part was how easily discussions degenerated into name-calling and cussing. Sad. Which probably prodded its moderators to cut off several bloggers, but I guess it was also what started the decline.

FilipinoVoices the blogsite supposedly a “Collective voice of Filipino people” ? HA!HA!HA!HA! It was a collective voice of snooty eglischtzes speaking Filipinos who are not intellecctuals but a contest of literary works that got lost in perfecting englsichtzes and spelling than the voice itself of Filipino. May it rest in peace forever ….

I just visited FilipinoVoices. It is more like a porn site. Sorry, porn sites are more lively than It is more a direlect site that needs to be taken down. Its pure cyberjunk. FilipinoVoices is now advertising bitchy 3-incher high-heel shoes. WHAT HAPPENED? The next time I knew it is selling puto maya !!!!!! HA!HA!HA1HA! That is what happen to a site that is englischtzes exclusive. Those who struggle with englischtzes and spelling are ex-commed .

its sad its gone. despite of the vitriols and nasty atmosphere inherent in diverse community, the blog has evolved some sense of collectiveness among bloggers to disagree and and be less contentious. it was able to distinguish too the sensible from the hecklers. nice blog ricelander… 🙂

Thanks for stopping by JCC. Sad that it could no more sustain its second coming. But there’s Pro-pinoy. It seems the same crowd is converging there.

if it’s really dead, i don’t mourn its demise. from a free-wheeling forum, it soon degenerated into an anti-arroyo-elect noynoy cyberjunk. i was so frustrated with it that i got to calling it “Filipino Vices”. the controllers made it a point to let article/comments that jibe with their bias, prejudices, hatred, and self-serving agenda see the light of day. he who laughs last laughs the best. btw, maybe quezon, carandang, lacierda and the rest of noynoy’s propaganda machine can save it.
